notice update


hello all, i hope each one of us had a good week, even in midst of trials and difficult moments, each of their own and as part of a larger collective group.

i am heading back to toronto tomorrow with my brother. he'll be all clean and fresh, no longer bound to the flesh wounds. i am glad as one could be at this point. and once back in toronto, there will be a service for him at the catholic church:

it will be taken place on

saturday 1 may 2101 at 10:00am
at st. andrew kim korean catholic church
the service will be lead by fr. john park
and would be about an hour long.

i am very glad to say thanks to you all who have been so sympathetic to my family and please do not feel badly if you are busy. this was a sudden event and rather than rushing it, i would rather take the comfort in fact that you will remember my brother in passing moments in upcoming days.

please take good care of yourselves and also let's take care of one another. be well please. not because it is a sad day, but because that is what we are here to do- to be human. to oneself and to others.

church information:
it's on wynford drive and don mills road,
if you are taking public transit:

1. take the ttc up to eglington station. from eglington, you could take eglington east and get off at don mills/eglington, then walk up a block to north; church will be right across from the ESSO gas station.

or you could take bus 100, flemingdon park, which will drop you right on the corner of the esso station.

2. if you are taking the bloor line, get off at pape, take the don mills north bus. get off at don mills and eglington, and you will walk up a block north to reach the gas station.

3. if you are driving, you need to get to don valley parkway south (esp. if you are taking 401), taking south. take wynford drive exit, then continue to west. after a bit of curves, you will reach don mills and wynford drive, where the church is located on the northeast corner.

today, walter hall was hosting a special event for violists: heidi castleman masterclass. she teaches at juilliard and yes, i think it is quite exciting to play for a different teacher- you can take away so much with you, the inspiration, technical knowledge, a new emotional dimension, you name it. and i was confronted by a special person as well, just not as helpful, however impressive. walter hall is a busy place. and it's only a natural thing that students want to get in there to practice- it sounds good, it feels good and yes, there is shortage of space at busy times of the day in school. however, it is a performance hall and not a practice room, especially regarding the pianos. the piano technicians work very hard to keep the instruments to meet the heavy demands.  they come way before the students, to yield to the kiddies who want to practice. and yes, they do go home after a day's work.  and because many musical events take place in late evenings, it is important ...

it is simple. granny's going.

tonight, dusk. hey blog, long time no see. i didnt have much thoughts that i wanted to write down. 2020 so far, has been mildly irritating, rather than truly provoking or even really enraging. but here we are. my granny's dying.  tomorrow would be just about 4 weeks since she went into a local hospital with colitis. but with prolonged stay and consequent isolation from everything/everyone (she hardly speaks english), and covid-19 protocol making it impossible for any of us to really go in and see her,   i feel that she's decided to curl her tails and get ready for the end.  after all, from the autumn equinox, to the winter solstice, it's a long gradient of 'end.' there were much phone chasing, 3-way calls, the usual immigrant family logistics when navigating complicated settings. it was unpleasant. and that is okay. but somewhere during that time, she's turned a corner, and now she's slowly disappearing. she's out, and back to her home. and she is no lon...

gabe, did you know that there is a tree growing for you in the faraway land of israel? there is. a young tree. hopefully. upward. green. living. gabe, so many people have sent you good wishes. even more have send me warmest thoughts.  it's been a real long two weeks, picking after you, including insurance folks, sketchy rental agency and the infamous cred card people. who know who else is still there. but i did laugh quite a bit with your bowling ball and 23 lighters so far.  of your little stuffy toys and silly pictures of you and your friends. i have not gone back home since last week. i didnt have much time nor i wanted to go back. i have decided that i also need to tend to things in my life, even with a great disruption. much like the recent volcanic eruption and the traffic logistical nightmare in europe. there are only so much one could do, but it still need to be done. ive been talking to a few people, especially my bassoon-related and trumpet-r...
